As much as I love Nerdy getting the last laugh, or verbal jab at least, he better be careful or he’ll get a tiny panda paw in his face. Vanity the Diva bear is emotionally unstable, or perhaps just plain unstable… like Sammy when he walks. Actually his walking is pretty impressive when I think back to what he was like just 2 months ago but it’s still pretty entertaining to watch toddlers stumble and weave like a drunk and waving his hands in the air with fists clenched around some sticky bit of banana or whatever else he found on the floor.
Speaking of Sam, I went shopping for my birthday back in June and I ended up just buying a hat and shoes for him. At FanExpo con this past August I was behind the table by myself for most of it and got only a few minutes to run around and shop; I ended up with just another outfit for him (it is kind of cool though, he’s so going to be a comic book nerd). Kids! They’re insidious.

The reasons that Evil looks so dismayed in panel three, if I were to guess? One, he’s thinking “Great! Now I have to wait for a baby elephant to loose *its* cute factor, and that sh*t ain’t happening anytime soon!” Two, he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt, anything he does to Vanity at this point is meaningless. That birth did more to cause him pain than Evil could on his best day.

Two things I really love here – Lech in the fourth panel is utterly fantastic. I nearly died when I saw his face. I also love Tanked’s whatever face. Evils ‘ehhh?’ face is pretty good, but what is going on in the fourth panel? Is he upset he can’t cause suffering, angry, has he lost a fight with a hoover…? Still, whatever the case, the facial expressions make my day, as usual?
Argh, I just noticed Vanity there! Jeebus, I love all the faces in the fourth frame. Awesome incarnate.
And isn’t your son sweet? I feel weird saying that, but I’m a student, and I’m in the baby-phobic early twenties where I have no clue where to even point a baby… plus I always feel like a freak complimenting other people’s children. But seriously… since I read yer archives pretty quickly, can I say… blimey, hasn’t he grown? He looks like he’s gonna grow up to be a pretty damn awesome kid. Love the t-shirt. I think every kid should have one. Unfortunately, it was only when I was twenty that my folks started buying me t-shirts of comic geekdom, wonder, insanity, splendour, awesomeness (and to think it all started with one about zombies)… but I wish I’d had some when I was younger. Awesome.

I was wondering, does Vanity Bear have SMS or small mans syndrome? (small BEAR syndrome)
For those unfamiliar with the term, it means that a short person will tear down others to make themselves feel bigger. It’s also referred to a Napoleon complex.
