Old house closes today, fingers crossed there’s no more weirdness…
So my tax issue is dumb: we both got letters from CRA saying we didn’t pay our HST (sales tax) instalments back in April and we should do that soon so we’d stop incurring penalty interest, except I absolutely DID pay them and I have the bank receipts (fortunately I found the box that had them, was a little freaked for a bit that I wouldn’t be able to since most of the old office in random boxes shoved in the new furnace room…) Fortunately, our accountant gets the fun times of following up with this, apparently the CRA does on occasion “lose” or “misfile” or on occasion just “randomly holds up transfers for no discernible reason” and it takes about 30 days to “trace” a payment…right.

Steven glared at her as she wiped her fur with her filthy sock “arm”. She looked dejectedly at her grimy sock, then glared at Sara. “I’m going to stomp you into a pulp.”
Cara jumped in between. “Wait! We know a guy that can get you a new arm!”
Steven canted her head, ears still back. “What?”
Fresh tears flowed as Cara jumped all in, “Would you like a new arm? He can make you one! He can make you many! Do you have a favourite colour? Colours? What about fabric? Would you like a silk arm? Maybe a nice warm flannel?”
Steven’s ears pricked. She shifted her huge bulk back, unconsciously giving them space. Sara’s abused neck wheezed a grateful breath as Steven’s expression turned from thunderous to something softer. Was that wonder? Her whole demeanour softened as she spoke in an almost tremulous voice. “You can get me a teal coloured arm in silk? Shiny silk?”
Cara stood carefully in front of Sara and Murder. “The shiniest silk credit card fraud can finagle. And teal would be a beautiful colour on you.”

@Vausch: I’d been thinking that this whole time. I may be thinking a bit beyond the scope of the tech available in this comic though because I kept thinking “cyborg arm.” Then there’s the fact that even if the tech is available it may bring too many questions from zoo staff (because, y’know, sometimes the animals have to be brought in to be examined or for medical procedures).
Either way, even if it’s unfeasible, a polar bear with a cybernetic arm just seems pretty boss to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I appreciate Cara being so willing to help Steven out, but where on Earth is there going to be a teal silk prosthetic arm just hanging around?

Given they’re talking about silk, I’m pretty sure they’re talking about Gay making her another “sock arm,” but out of nicer material.

Steven might be a lady, but she isn’t a woman of class. She’d lean towards something with ‘BEARS SUCK’ written on, or maybe an unprintable cuss word.

@Vausch and NotAnotherZeroFan: I’ve been thinking the same for a while. Before this, i always hoped they’d befriend Steven or make amends by having Nerd craft her a cybernetic, waterproof arm. I didn’t think about how the zoo staff might react to that though, sometimes i forget they exist. Lol A lovely teal sock arm made of silk would still be nice though. Hopefully, the polars never find out how Steven lost her arm, if they aren’t already aware.
@Alison: Geez, sorry you’re dealing with so much at once. I hope everything works out for you and you’re able to relax soon with no more stresses.

So, BN is an illustrated novel from now on instead of a comic strip? I have not been reading regularly due to computer problems.
